Grilled Flank Steak With Onions Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1 1/2lbsflank steaks
  2. 1/3cupvinegar
  3. 1/3cupsalad oil
  4. 3tablespoonsbrown sugar
  5. 3tablespoonssoy sauce
  6. 2onions, sliced
  7. 1garlic clove
  8. 1/2teaspoonblack pepper, coarsely ground

DIRECTIONS

  1. Place the flank steak in a sturdy resealable plastic bag. Add the sliced onions, placing them both under and on top of the meat.Mix remaining ingredients to make marinade, and pour over the meat and onions.Seal the bag and refrigerate for a minimum of 8 hours, turning the bag occasionally.
  2. To cook: Heat the grill.Remove the onions from the marinade, place them in an oven-proof dish and bake them (covered) for 20-30 minutes at 350 degrees.Grill the meat, turning once. The original recipe says 2″ from something called “hot coals”.My gas grill doesn’t have “hot coals”, but I’ve heard of them — Take care not overcook it; Medium is overcooked, IMHO.
  3. To serve, slice the meat thinly across the grain and top with the baked onions, or at least be honest, and tell guests that the sliced onions are available. Saving them for yourself is not polite.

Pan-Roasted Steak and Onions Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1tablespoonextra virgin olive oil
  2. 2tablespoonsbalsamic vinegar
  3. 1tablespoonworcestershire sauce
  4. 1tablespoonDijon mustard
  5. 2garlic cloves, minced
  6. 1lbflank steaks
  7. 1tablespooncracked black pepper
  8. 1/2teaspoonsalt
  9. 1cupfat-free chicken broth
  10. 1mediumonion, cut into 1/4-inch thick rings

DIRECTIONS

  1. 1. In a large non-aluminum baking dish, combine the oil, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and garlic. Add the steak; turn to coat. Cover; refrigerate for 30 minutes or overnight, turning once.
  2. 2. Coat a nonstick skillet with cooking spray. Place over medium-high heat. Sprinkle the steak with the pepper and salt. Brown for 2 minutes per side. Add 1/2 cup of the broth; cook, turning once, for 5 to 6 minutes per side (for medium-rare). Remove the steak from the skillet; cover the steak loosely to keep it warm. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the onion slices to the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 4 to 5 minutes per side. Add the remaining broth as needed to prevent the onions from sticking.
  3. Thinly slice the steak across the grain; serve with the onions.

INGREDIENTS

  1. 2 1/2lbsround steaks
  2. 1 (10 1/2 ounce)cancream of mushroom soup
  3. 2 slicedonions
  4. 1/2cupwater

DIRECTIONS

  1. Brown meat on both sides.
  2. drain grease off of meat.
  3. pour mixture of soup, water and onions over meat.
  4. simmer covered for 1 1/2 hours or until tender.

Bobs Grilled Flank Steak and Onions Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 2lbsflank steaks
  2. 3mediumonions, sliced 1/2 in thick
  3. 1teaspoonolive oil
  4. 1/2cupbalsamic vinegar
  5. 2teaspoonsDijon mustard
  6. 1/2teaspoonsalt
  7. 1teaspoonrosemary, crumbled in your hands

DIRECTIONS

  1. Prepare grill.
  2. Combine olive oil, balsamic vinegar, dijon mustard, salt and rosemary in a 9X13 dish.
  3. Add steak and onions; turn to coat.
  4. Let stand at least 15 mins or upto 45 minutes.
  5. Grill steak and onions 8-12 minutes turning once and brushing with with marinade.
  6. Slice steak across grain and serve with onions.

Sizzling Steak and Onions, (Vietnam) Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 675gtenderloin or steak fillets, cut into 3/4 inch cubes
  2. salt
  3. 1/2teaspoonsugar
  4. black pepper, coarsely crushed(I use 1 1/2 tsp)
  5. 3clovesgarlic, peeled and crushed
  6. 1inchgingerroot, peeled and crushed
  7. 1stalkfresh lemongrass, chopped(6 inches of)or1 tablespoondried lemon grass, soaked in warm water for an hour and drained or gratedfresh lemon rind
  8. 3tablespoonsvegetable oil
  9. 1largeonion, peeled and cut into 3/4 inch cubes

DIRECTIONS

  1. Combine the meat,salt, sugar, garlic, ginger, lemon grass/ lemon rind, black pepper in a bowl.
  2. Rub the spices into the meat.
  3. Marinate for 1 hour atleast.
  4. Heat 2 tblsp oil in a cast iron pan till very hot (on high).
  5. Add the onion and saute briefly till slightly brown but limp (for abt a min) Remove and sprinkle a little salt on them (I omit this as I do not like too much salt and DH then adds some to his plate) Heat pan again with the remaining oil in it.
  6. Again when very hot put in the meat cubes in a single layer and cook on both sides (if you like it well cooked reduce heat to cook some more as the meat should not burn) Serve with the onions on top.
