Alton Brown’s Corn Dogs Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1gallonpeanut oil
  2. 1cupyellow cornmeal
  3. 1cupall-purpose flour
  4. 2teaspoonskosher salt
  5. 1teaspoonbaking powder
  6. 1/4teaspoonbaking soda
  7. 1/2teaspooncayenne pepper
  8. 2tablespoonsjalapeno peppers, seeded and finely minced(approximately 1 large)
  9. 1 (8 1/2 ounce)cancream-style corn
  10. 1/3cup finely gratedonions
  11. 1 1/2cupsbuttermilk
  12. 4tablespoonscornstarch, for dredging
  13. 8beef hot dogs

DIRECTIONS

  1. Pour oil into a deep fryer or large heavy pot and heat to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cayenne pepper.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the jalapeno, corn, onion, and buttermilk.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients all at once, and stir only enough times to bring the batter together; there should be lumps.
  5. Set batter aside and allow to rest for 10 minutes.
  6. Scatter the cornstarch into a dry pie pan.
  7. Roll each hot dog in the cornstarch and tap well to remove any excess.
  8. Transfer enough batter to almost fill a large drinking glass.
  9. Refill the glass as needed.
  10. Place each hot dog on chopsticks, and quickly dip in and out of the batter.
  11. Immediately and carefully place each hot dog into the oil, and cook until coating is golden brown, about 4 to 5 minutes.
  12. With tongs, remove to cooling rack, and allow to drain for 3 to 5 minutes.

Barbecue Hot Dogs Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 8hot dogs(or vegetarian alternative)
  2. 1mediumonion(chopped)
  3. 2tablespoonsvinegar
  4. 1tablespoonflour
  5. 1 1/2teaspoonsworcestershire sauce
  6. 1teaspoonchili powder
  7. 1/2cuptomato ketchup
  8. 2teaspoonsbrown sugar
  9. 2tablespoonshot water

DIRECTIONS

  1. Prick each wiener with a fork.
  2. Place wieners into a greased casserole dish.
  3. Mix all other ingredients and pour over wieners.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Joe’s Dogs Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 8hot dogs
  2. 8hotdog buns
  3. 1tablespoonred wine vinegar
  4. 3/4cupbarbecue sauce(your favorite)
  5. 1tablespoondehydrated onion
  6. 1/4cupbeer
  7. 1tablespoonsteak sauce(I like A-1)
  8. 1tablespoonbrown sugar

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cut each canine’s skin in a spiral from nose to tail.
  2. Place pooches in a glass container.
  3. Mix remaining ingredients in a bowl and dump over dogs.
  4. Marinate the mutts overnight in the refrigerator or 1/2 hour at room temperature.
  5. Grill the growlers over medium heat until done.
  6. Meanwhile, boil the marinade.
  7. Place the pups in the hot marinade to coat, and coax each curr onto a bun.
  8. Serve with chopped onion and desired condiments.

Texas Twister Chili Dogs Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1 (16 ounce)cankidney beans or pinto beans, not drained
  2. 1/2mediumgreen bell pepper, chopped
  3. 1mediumonion, chopped
  4. 1/2cupketchup
  5. 2teaspoonschili powder
  6. 1/2teaspoonoregano
  7. 1/2teaspoongarlic salt
  8. 1lbhot dogs
  9. 8hotdog buns
  10. 3/4cupcheddar cheese, shredded

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a saucepan, combine the beans with their liquid and all the seasonings.
  2. Simmer for about 15 minutes, if too thick add a little water.
  3. Slice hot dogs in spirals and cook in simmering water for 5 to 8 minutes.
  4. Split buns, but not all the way through.
  5. Put hot dog on bun, top with lots of bean sauce and sprinkle with shredded cheese.

Spicy Hot Dogs Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1/2cup choppedonions
  2. 1tablespoonoil
  3. 1 1/4cupshot ketchup
  4. 2tablespoonspickle relish
  5. 1tablespoonsugar
  6. 1tablespoonvinegar
  7. 1/2teaspoonsalt
  8. 1dashpepper
  9. 8hot dogs
  10. 8hotdog buns, toasted

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cook onions in oil until tender.
  2. Stir in remaining ingredients except the hot dogs and buns.
  3. Score dogs lengthwise and add to sauce.
  4. Simmer 10 minutes.
  5. Serve on toasted buns with your choice of condiments if desired.
