Rice and Barley Pilaf Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1/2cup uncookedlong grain rice
  2. 1/2cuppearl barley, uncooked
  3. 2tablespoonsbutter
  4. 4 chopped springgreen onions
  5. 1 (10 ounce)canconsomme
  6. 10ounceswater
  7. 5ouncescanned mushrooms, with juice(1/2 tin of mushrooms with juice)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Brown the rice and barley in the butter in a sauce pot.
  2. Add chopped green onion and all other ingredients.
  3. Cook on stove top covered for 30 minutes, until done.
  4. Or can be cooked covered in a 350 degree oven for an hour.
  5. Cook until all liquid is absorbed.
  6. Toss and serve.
  7. This recipe can be doubled.
