Picadillo Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1lbground beef
  2. 1mediumjalapeno pepper, finely chopped
  3. 1cup choppedonions
  4. 1garlic clove, minced
  5. 1 (15 ounce)can dicedtomatoes and green chilies
  6. 1cupvegetable broth
  7. 1largegranny smith apples
  8. 1/4cup slicedgreen pimento-stuffed olives
  9. 1/4cupraisins
  10. 1cinnamon stick
  11. 1/4cup toastedslivered almonds
  12. hotcooked riceor flour tortillas

DIRECTIONS

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large saucepan or Dutch oven. Drain the fat,.
  2. Add onion, jalapeno pepper and garlic. Cook another 3 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients except the almonds.
  3. Bring mixture to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes, uncovered, until the sauce is slightly thickened.
  4. Remove cinnamon stick and add almonds. Serve over hot cooked rice or with flour tortillas.
