Mrs. Moore’s Chocolate Cake Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 2cupsflour
  2. 2cupssugar
  3. 1/2cupbutteror margarine
  4. 3-4tablespoonscocoa
  5. 1cupwater
  6. 1/2cupvegetable oil
  7. 1/2cupbuttermilk
  8. 1/2teaspoonbaking soda
  9. 2eggs
  10. 1teaspoonvanilla
  11. Icing

  12. 1/2cupbutter
  13. 3tablespoonscocoa
  14. 6tablespoonsbuttermilk
  15. 1 (16 ounce)boxpowdered sugar
  16. 1cup choppedpecansor walnuts
  17. 1teaspoonvanilla

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cake: Sift flour and sugar together.
  2. Heat butter, cocoa, water and oil until it boils.
  3. Pour hot mixture over flour and sugar.
  4. Mix well by hand!
  5. Add buttermilk and soda.
  6. Add eggs and vanilla.
  7. Mix well.
  8. Bake in a well greased and floured 9×13 pan at 350 for 30-35 minutes.
  9. Icing: Mix butter, cocoa and buttermilk in heavy sauce pan.
  10. Heat until boils.
  11. Remove from heat.
  12. Add powdered sugar and mix well.
  13. Add pecans or walnuts and vanilla.
  14. Pour over cake while cake is still hot.
