Masala Khichdi Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 50gwhite rice
  2. 50ggreen gram(split)
  3. 1cup choppedmixed herbs(coriander leaves, mint leaves, celery, parsely and basil)
  4. 1cup choppedonions
  5. 1teaspoonginger, grated
  6. 1teaspoongarlic, chopped
  7. 1teaspoonoatmeal
  8. 2teaspoonswheat germ
  9. 1/4teaspoonred chili, pod
  10. 1teaspooncumin seeds
  11. 1/4teaspoonasafetida powder
  12. 1dried bay leaf
  13. salt, to taste
  14. 2teaspoonsvegetable oil, for tempering
  15. 4-6curry leaves

DIRECTIONS

  1. Heat oil in a wok, add cumin seeds and let it splutter for few seconds.
  2. Add astefeodia, bay leaf, curry leaves.
  3. After the leaf change color add garlic and ginger,let it cook for sometime.
  4. The add onions, salt, chilli pd.
  5. Mix for few minutes till onions are slightly transparent.
  6. Add the remaining ingredients and water a little over twice the volume of rice.
  7. Transfer it in pressure cooker or rice cooker and cook till done.
  8. Serve hot with curd or any kind of raita.
  9. For decoration speinkle the khichdi with chopped coriander leaves and mint leaves.
