Kahlua Fruit Compote Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 2cupswater
  2. 1cupgranulated sugar
  3. 1/2cupKahluaor othercoffee-flavored liqueur
  4. 8tablespoonsunsalted butter
  5. 1largelemon, zest of, grated
  6. 3/4teaspoonground cinnamon
  7. 1tablespooncornstarch
  8. 6ouncesdried apples
  9. 6ouncesdried apricots
  10. 6ouncesdried prunes, pitted

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the water, sugar, Kahlua, butter, lemon zest, cinnamon and cornstarch.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring often to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Add the dried apples, apricots, and prune; return to a boil.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer until the liquid is syrupy, about 10 minutes.
  5. Transfer the compote to a medium bowl and allow to cool completely.
  6. Cover and refrigerate until chilled, at least 2 hours or overnight.
