- 1lbdried black-eyed peas
- 1/2cupgreen bell peppers, chopped
- 1/2cuponions, chopped
- 1/2cupgreen onions, chopped
- 1/2cupcelery, chopped
- 1/4teaspoongarlic powder
- 1/2lbsmoked ham hocks
- 1teaspoonblack pepper, to taste
- Wash peas and soak overnight in cold water.
- Drain peas.
- Place all ingredients in large pot, add 2 quarts water.
- Cook at least 2 hours or until peas are tender.
- Additional water may be needed.
