Beef Stroganoff Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 4cups cookedlean beef, cut in strips about 1 inch long,1/4 inch wide
  2. 2tablespoonsoil
  3. 2tablespoonsbutter
  4. 1cup finely choppedonions
  5. 1 1/2cups slicedfresh mushrooms
  6. 1cupbeef stockor beef consomme
  7. 1 1/2tablespoonsflour
  8. 1teaspoonsalt
  9. 1/2teaspoon wholecaraway seeds
  10. 1dashnutmeg
  11. 2cupssour creamor light sour cream

DIRECTIONS

  1. In large skillet or dutch oven, saute the onions and mushrooms in the oil and butter until soft.
  2. Add the beef and cook 10 more minutes.
  3. Add the beef stock and simmer for 30 minutes.
  4. Mix the flour and all seasonings with the sour cream and slowly stir into the meat mixture.
  5. Cook slowly (low heat) until thick, about 15 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and serve with noodles.
