Rogene's Bread Pudding With Vanilla Sauce Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1/2gallonmilk
  2. 1 1/2cupssugar
  3. 1 1/2teaspoonssalt
  4. 1/2teaspoonnutmeg
  5. 1/2cupraisins
  6. 5eggs
  7. 2teaspoonscinnamon
  8. 2tablespoonsvanilla
  9. bread, sliced
  10. vanilla sauce

  11. 2cupssugar
  12. 1cupbutter
  13. 1cupmilk, plus
  14. 1teaspoonvinegar
  15. 2tablespoonslight corn syrup
  16. 3/4teaspoonbaking soda
  17. 4-5tablespoonsvanilla

DIRECTIONS

  1. To make bread pudding: mix everything but raisins. Set aside.
  2. In a 9×13 inch baking dish layer bread halfway up. Pour mixture over. Sprinkle raisins on top. Bake at 350 degrees for approx 45-60 minutes, checking often for a knife to come out clean.
  3. To make sauce: Heat all ingredients except the vanilla over medium heat, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
  4. Spoon yourself out some bread pudding and top it off with the sauce and some cool whip.

Grandma Geldner’s Pflaum (Plum) Torte Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1cupsugar
  2. 1/2cupunsalted butter
  3. 1cupflour
  4. 1teaspoonbaking powder
  5. 1pinchsalt
  6. 2eggs, beaten
  7. 12plums, halved and pitted
  8. sugar, for sprinkling
  9. lemon juice, for sprinkling
  10. 1teaspooncinnamon

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs to mix.
  3. Mix well until uniform and add flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt.
  4. Mix well before spooning batter into a greased or oiled 9″ spring form pan.
  5. Place plums on batter skin side up and sprinkle with sugar and lemon juice.
  6. Spread cinnamon over plums and bake for 1 hour.
  7. Cool to lukewarm and remove from pan.
