INGREDIENTS

  1. 3tablespoonsoatmeal
  2. 2tablespoons liquidheather honey
  3. 2pintsScotch whiskey, to make up 4 cups
  4. 2cupswater

DIRECTIONS

  1. Put oatmeal into bowl, mix with water to create thick paste.
  2. Let stand for 1/2 hour.
  3. In the next step, the aim is to save the liquid; not the oatmeal.
  4. Strain liquid through fine strainer into bowl.
  5. Press with back of spoon to extract all liquid, throw away oatmeal.
  6. Mix liquid with honey, stir with silver spoon until well-blended.
  7. Pour into quart bottle, fill up with whisky, cork tightly.
  8. Always shake before using.
  9. Serves 4 -.

Delicious Lemon Tart Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. FOR THE DOUGH

  2. 3/4cupbutter, at room temperature
  3. 3tablespoonsconfectioners’ sugar
  4. 1 1/2cupsall-purpose flour
  5. FOR THE FILLING

  6. 2eggs, at room temperature
  7. 3/4cupgranulated sugar
  8. 2lemons, juice and zest of, grated
  9. 3/4cupbutter, at room temperature
  10. GARNISH

  11. 1lemon
  12. granulated sugar, to sprinkle

DIRECTIONS

  1. To start the dough, cream together the butter and confectioners’ sugar using a mixer.
  2. Add the flour and mix until consistency becomes course/grainy.
  3. Place dough in a ziplock bag and chill for 30 minutes.
  4. Press and form dough into 10-inch tart pan covering bottom and sides.
  5. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove and cool.
  7. Reduce oven heat to 350 degrees and hold to wait for tart.
  8. Next, blend together the granulated sugar and the eggs.
  9. Mix in the lemon juice, grated lemon peel, and butter, combine well.
  10. Put tart pan on a cookie sheet for stability and pour the filling mix into the tart shell.
  11. Using a potato peeler, peel the outer rind off another lemon so that only the white “pith” (thin layer) remains.
  12. Make 8 thin slices from that lemon and place them carefully on the tart.
  13. Place tart on tray in oven and bake for 35 minutes ( at 350 degrees).
  14. Remove from oven and sprinkle granulated sugar on the lemon slices.
  15. Increase oven to high broil and place tart back in oven on the top rack allowing to brown lightly on top.
  16. **WATCH THIS CLOSELY as you can easily burn the crust or the tart.***.
  17. Cool tart completely before serving.
  18. Enjoy!;).
  19. ***Hint- a culinary torch/ creme brylee torch could be used to brown the top of the tart if desired**.

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1/2cuponions, diced
  2. 1/2cupbell peppers, diced
  3. 1tablespoonbutter
  4. 1teaspoonolive oil
  5. 1 (14 1/2 ounce)canstewed tomatoes
  6. 1 (8 ounce)cantomato sauce
  7. 1/2cupred wine
  8. 8frozen meatballs
  9. 1/2teaspoonsalt
  10. 1teaspoonoregano
  11. 1/4teaspoongarlic powder

DIRECTIONS

  1. Saute the onion in the butter and oil in the bottom of a medium sized sauce pan.
  2. When the onions are translucent, add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. Serve over cooked pasta.

Beef and Barley Vegetable Soup Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1 1/2lbsextra lean ground beefor extralean ground turkey

  3. 28ouncestomatoes(diced)
  4. 2cupswater
  5. 3 (10 ounce)cansbeef consomme(preferably low sodium)
  6. 1 (10 ounce)cantomato soup(preferably low sodium)
  7. 4carrots, chopped
  8. 3celery ribs, chopped
  9. 1bay leaf
  10. 1teaspoonthyme
  11. 1teaspoonparsley
  12. 1/2teaspoonpepper
  13. 8tablespoonsbarley

DIRECTIONS

  1. Brown beef and onion, drain any fat.
  2. Add remaining ingredients. Cook for a minimum of two hours.
  3. or.
  4. After browning beef and onion you can also use your slow cooker on low for 7 -8 hours.

Slow Cooker Hot Ham Sandwiches Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 3lbs thinly sliceddeli ham(about 40 slices)
  2. 2cupsapple juice
  3. 2/3cup packedbrown sugar
  4. 1/2cupsweet pickle relish
  5. 2teaspoonsprepared mustard
  6. 1teaspoonpaprika
  7. 12kaiser rolls, split
  8. additionalsweet pickle relish (optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Separate ham slices and place in a slow cooker.
  2. In a bowl, combine the apple juice, brown sugar, relish, mustard and paprika.
  3. Pour over ham.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until heated through.
  5. Place 3-4 slices of ham on each roll.
  6. Serve with additional relish, if desired.
