Gma’s Turkey Pie Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1 1/2cupscooked turkey(diced or shredded)
  2. 2cupsturkey broth(canned works fine)
  3. 2 (15 ounce)cansmixed vegetables, drained
  4. 1 (15 ounce)canpotatoes, drained(or use fresh)
  5. 1 (15 ounce)cancarrots, drained(or use fresh)
  6. salt(to taste)
  7. pepper(to taste)
  8. 3tablespoonsrubbed sage(add more as desired)
  9. 10-12refrigerated buttermilk biscuits(any style biscuit, enough to cover 9×13 pan)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cook all ingredients except biscuits in large sauce pan until heated thoroughly.Taste for seasoning, add more if desired (sage should be a prominent seasoning in this dish).
  2. Spoon hot mixture into glass baking dish (9×13).
  3. Top with biscuits (enough to cover entire dish).
  4. Bake according to directions on biscuit packaging.

Pepper Sirloin Steak Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 2 1/2lbssirloin steaks, 1 1/2 inches thick
  2. 1/2cupbutter
  3. 1/4cup choppedfresh parsley
  4. 1/4cup mincedonions
  5. 2tablespoonsworcestershire sauce
  6. 1teaspoonground pepper
  7. 1/2teaspoondry mustard

DIRECTIONS

  1. Lightly score edges of steak at 1 inch intervals. Preheat grill or broiler.
  2. Combine butter, parsley, onion, W sauce, pepper and mustard in a small saucepan. Heat, stirring continually, over low heat, until butter melts. Reserve 1/4 of the mixture.
  3. Place steak on grill or broiler pan. Brush steak with butter mixture. Cook, basting frequently with butter mixture, about 6 minutes per side for medium.
  4. Place steak on a serving platter. Cut thin slices across the grain. Drizzle reserved butter mixture over steak.

Seafood Lasagna Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1green onion, finely chopped, white part included
  2. 2tablespoonsvegetable oil
  3. 2tablespoonsbutteror margarine
  4. 1/2cupbutteror margarine
  5. 1/2cupchicken broth
  6. 1 (8 ounce)bottleclam juice
  7. 1lbbay scallops
  8. 1lb uncookedsmall shrimp, peeled and deveined
  9. 1/8teaspoongarlic salt
  10. 1 (8 ounce)packageimitation crabmeat, chunk style
  11. 1/4teaspoonpepper, divided
  12. 1/2cupall-purpose flour
  13. 1 1/2cupsmilk
  14. 1/2teaspoonsalt
  15. 1cupwhipping cream
  16. 1/2cup shreddedparmesan cheese, divided
  17. 9lasagna noodles, cooked and divided

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large skillet, saute onion in oil and 2 tablespoons butter for about a minute.
  2. Stir in broth and clam juice and bring to a boil.
  3. Add the uncooked scallops, uncooked shrimp, 1/8 teaspoon pepper, and 1/8 teaspoon garlic salt and return to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered 4-5 minutes until the seafood is cooked, stirring every now and then.
  5. Drain the mixture, reserving the cooking liquid.
  6. Mix the drained shrimp and scallops with the imitation crab and set aside.
  7. In the same skillet as before, melt the remaining butter.
  8. Stir in flour until smooth.
  9. Combine milk and reserved cooking liquid and then gradually add to the butter/flour mixture.
  10. Add salt and remaining pepper.
  11. Bring to a boil and then cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
  12. Remove the heat and stir in the whipping cream and 1/4 cup of the Parmesan cheese.
  13. Stir 3/4 cup of the white sauce into the reserved seafood mixture.
  14. Spread 1/2 cup white sauce on the bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2-in baking dish.
  15. Top with three noodles.
  16. Spread with half the seafood mixture.
  17. Top with 1 1/4 cups of the sauce.
  18. Repeat with another noodle, seafood, and sauce layer.
  19. Top with remaining noodles, sauce, and Parmesan cheese.
  20. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until top is golden brown.
  21. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving.

Jan’s Sugar Cookies Cut Outs Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 2cupsunbleached flour
  2. 1 1/2teaspoonsbaking powder
  3. 1/4teaspoonsalt
  4. 6tablespoonsbutter, soft
  5. 1/3cupshortening(Crisco)
  6. 3/4cupsugar
  7. 1egg
  8. 1tablespoonmilk
  9. 1teaspoonvanilla

DIRECTIONS

  1. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt.Set aside.
  2. Beat butter and shortening with an electric mixer for 30 seconds.Add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk, and vanilla.Beat well.
  3. Add dry ingredients; beat well.Divide dough in half — cover and chill about 3 hours.Working with half the dough at a time –on a lightly prepared surfae ( flour mixed with powdered sugar) rollto 1/8” thickness.
  4. Cut into desired shapes.Place on an UNGREASED cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for7 to 8 minutes –or until done.(when edges start to brown).Cool slightly and remove to a wire rack to cool. Makes 36 to 48 cookies.
  5. Frostwhen cool and decorate if desired. *** I like to make these in small stars and hearts totuck in a cookie tray.Also like the edible glitter on them.
  6. Frosting.
  7. Sifted powdered sugar — 2 cups –gradually add a couple Tablespoons of milk and mix well –adding more milk to get the desired consistency –should be spreadable not runny. If too thin. add morepowdered sugar. If
  8. desired –divide frosting and tint with a toothpick dipped in food coloring to get the desired delicate shade you desire.Immediately top with sprinkles, edible glitter etc.Allow several hours for the frosting to harden. I leave them over-night. Enjoy!
