Cooked Cornmeal Mush Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1cupcornmeal
  2. 1teaspoonsalt
  3. 1cupcold water
  4. 3cupsboiling water

DIRECTIONS

  1. Mix cornmeal, cold water & salt.
  2. Slowly stir cornmeal mixture into the boiling water in a saucepan.
  3. Cook and stir until thick.
  4. Lower heat.
  5. Cover and cook 15 minutes, stirring as needed.

My French Onion Soup Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1lbonions, sliced thin
  2. 6tablespoonsunsalted butter
  3. 5cupsbeef stock
  4. 1teaspoonsalt
  5. 4slicesFrench bread, 1/2-inch thick
  6. 1cupgruyere cheeseor mozzarella cheese
  7. 2tablespoonsworcestershire sauce
  8. 1dashKitchen Bouquet

DIRECTIONS

  1. Melt butter in a large saucepan and add onions, stir well.
  2. Cover with a lid and cook over low heat for about 30 minutes or until onions are soft and transparent.
  3. Remove the lid and continue cooking the onions until golden brown.
  4. Stir in the beef stock. Replace the lid and simmer for 30 – 40 minutes.
  5. Add Worcestershire sauce, Kitchen Bouquet and salt, if needed.
  6. To serve, top bowl of soup with a slice of bread and 1/4 of the cheese.
  7. If desired, place under the broiler until cheese is melted.

Savory Pea Soup Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 3/4cupsmoked sausage
  2. 2celery ribs, sliced
  3. 1 (16 ounce)packagesplit peas
  4. 2 (16 ounce)canschicken broth
  5. 1 (16 ounce)bagfrozen chopped onions
  6. 3carrots
  7. 1bay leaf

DIRECTIONS

  1. Brown sausage in small skillet until browned, drain well.
  2. Combine sausage & remaining ingredients in slow cooker.
  3. Cover and cook on low 5 hours or until peas are tender.
  4. Turn off heat.
  5. Let stand 15 minutes to thicken.

Harvest Chili Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1lbground beef
  2. 1 (16 ounce)canstewed tomatoes
  3. 1 (16 ounce)canbaked beans
  4. 1tablespoonchili powder
  5. 1cuptortilla chips
  6. 1tablespooncumin
  7. 1cupcheddar cheese
  8. 1/8teaspooncayenne pepper
  9. 1cuprice
  10. 1 (16 ounce)canred kidney beans
  11. 1 (16 ounce)cantomato soup
  12. 1 (16 ounce)cansliced mushrooms

DIRECTIONS

  1. Brown meat in a large deep stove pot at medium heat until the meat is no longer pink.
  2. Add spices to pot.
  3. Add to cooked meat in this order, soup, tomatoes, beans & mushrooms.
  4. Stir Well.
  5. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer.
  6. Set timer for 20 minutes.
  7. Eat with Rice, chips & cheese on top.

Temple Meatloaf Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 3/4cupbreadcrumbs
  2. 3/4cupevaporated milk
  3. 2teaspoonsmustard
  4. 2eggs
  5. 1/2lbground sausage
  6. 2tablespoonsinstant minced onion
  7. 1teaspoonsage
  8. 2/3cupketchup
  9. 1/2teaspoonsalt
  10. 4tablespoonsbrown sugar
  11. 1/4teaspoonpepper
  12. 1lbground beef

DIRECTIONS

  1. Topping is ketchup, brown sugar and mustard.
  2. Mix crumbs, egg and milk & let stand.
  3. Blend in other ingredients & place in loaf pan.
  4. Bake at 350* for 30 minutes.
  5. Pour topping over loaf & bake 30 minutes longer.
