INGREDIENTS
- 1/3cup meltedbutter
- 2/3cup fresh dairybuttermilk
- 1/4cupgranulated sugar
- 1/2teaspoonsalt
- 1/2teaspoonbaking soda
- 1teaspoonbaking powder
- 1 3/4cupsall-purpose flour
- 3/4cupfresh raspberries
- 1/3cuptoasted hazelnuts
DIRECTIONS
- Mix all dry ingredients together.
- Blend in butter and buttermilk.
- Mix just until blended.
- Fold in hazelnuts.
- Stir in lightly raspberries.
- Drop by spoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet.
- Bake 350 degrees F 20 minutes.

INGREDIENTS
- pie pastry
- 4medium peeledpotatoes
- 1 1/2cupswhite sugar
- 1lemon
- 1/4cup leftoverpotato water
- 1/2cupdark brown sugar
- 1tablespoonbutter
DIRECTIONS
- Slice the potatoes very thinly.
- Boil them in water until they are just barely tender.
- Remove them from the water carefully, trying not to break the slices.
- Save 1/4 cup of the water.
- Juice the lemon.
- Mix the lemon juice, the sugar, and the 1/4 cup of potato water together in a pan.
- Simmer for 5 minutes while stirring occasionally.
- Add the potato slices to the mixture carefully and bring to a boil.
- Remove the lemon/potato mix from the stove and let it cool.
- Meanwhile heat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Put the pastry into a 9 inch pan.
- Put the potato slices in the pastry and then pour the syrup over top.
- Sprinkle the top with brown sugar and dot with butter.
- Bake for about 15 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to 350 degrees and bake it for 30 to 35 minutes more.
- This can be served at room temperature or chilled.

INGREDIENTS
- 1loaf fresh unslicedbread, cut into big cubes
- 1 1/2cupsmaple syrup
- 4 beatedeggs
- 4cupsmilk
- 1pinchsalt
- 1/8teaspoon fresh gratednutmeg
- 1/2cupraisins
- 1/2cuppecans
DIRECTIONS
- Cube a loaf of bread into pieces, also remove crusts if desired.
- Pour maple syrup over the bread cubes and toss to coat well.
- Mix eggs with milk and whisk until blended.
- Pour over cubes for 20 minutes to absorb.
- Add raisins and pecans.
- Bake in a buttered casserole dish at 325 degrees F.
- for 40 minutes.
- or until fork inserted in centre comes out clean.
- Topping for serving– Plain yogurt strained to remove some of the liquids, then add maple syrup and stir in well.
- Pour over the custard when serving.

INGREDIENTS
- 1cupflour
- 4teaspoonsbaking powder
- 1/2teaspoonsalt
- 1tablespoonsugar
- 1/2teaspoonnutmeg
- 2tablespoonsbutter
- 1/2cup coldmashed potatoes
- 1/3cupmilk(plus or minus a tiny bit)
DIRECTIONS
- In a large bowl mix the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and nutmeg.
- Cut in the butter with 2 knives or a pastry cutter until it resembles coarse meal.
- Mash the potato until it is smooth.
- Add it to the flour.
- Make a well in the center of the flour and add the milk.
- Mix it lightly with a fork, adding more milk if needed to make a soft dough.
- Put it on a lightly floured surface and knead it until smooth.
- Pat it (or roll it) to 1/2 inch thickness or less.
- Using a 3 inch cookie cutter (or whatever you use to make 3 inch rounds) cut them out.
- Dust a griddle with flour and heat until the flour browns just a bit.
- Cook the muffins on the griddle (at medium to medium-high heat) until they are cooked through and golden brown, turning them once.
- Serve them hot with your favorite topping.

INGREDIENTS

Brownies
- 1/2cupmargarine
- 3tablespoonscocoa
- 1cupsugar
- 3/4cupflour
- 1/4teaspoonsalt
- 2largeeggs
- 1/2teaspoonvanilla
- hersheychocolate syrup
- 1quartstrawberries
- powdered sugar
DIRECTIONS
- Combine margarine and cocoa in a small saucepan; cook over low heat, stirring frequently until margarine melts.
- Remove from heat and cool slightly.
- Combine sugar, flour and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Add chocolate mixture and beat at medium speed with electric mixer until blended.
- Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
- Spread into well-greased 9″ square baking pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool 10 minutes on a wire rack.
- Invert on rack; cool completely.
- Cut into 8 (2 1/2-3″) hearts, using a heart shaped cutter.
- Spoon 2 Tbsp chocolate sauce onto each of 4 plates; place a heart brownie on each plate.
- Arrange strawberries over the hearts; top with remaining heart brownies.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
