Raspberry Hazelnut Scones 1989 Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1/3cup meltedbutter
  2. 2/3cup fresh dairybuttermilk
  3. 1/4cupgranulated sugar
  4. 1/2teaspoonsalt
  5. 1/2teaspoonbaking soda
  6. 1teaspoonbaking powder
  7. 1 3/4cupsall-purpose flour
  8. 3/4cupfresh raspberries
  9. 1/3cuptoasted hazelnuts

DIRECTIONS

  1. Mix all dry ingredients together.
  2. Blend in butter and buttermilk.
  3. Mix just until blended.
  4. Fold in hazelnuts.
  5. Stir in lightly raspberries.
  6. Drop by spoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet.
  7. Bake 350 degrees F 20 minutes.

Lemon Potato Pie Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. pie pastry
  2. 4medium peeledpotatoes
  3. 1 1/2cupswhite sugar
  4. 1lemon
  5. 1/4cup leftoverpotato water
  6. 1/2cupdark brown sugar
  7. 1tablespoonbutter

DIRECTIONS

  1. Slice the potatoes very thinly.
  2. Boil them in water until they are just barely tender.
  3. Remove them from the water carefully, trying not to break the slices.
  4. Save 1/4 cup of the water.
  5. Juice the lemon.
  6. Mix the lemon juice, the sugar, and the 1/4 cup of potato water together in a pan.
  7. Simmer for 5 minutes while stirring occasionally.
  8. Add the potato slices to the mixture carefully and bring to a boil.
  9. Remove the lemon/potato mix from the stove and let it cool.
  10. Meanwhile heat the oven to 425 degrees.
  11. Put the pastry into a 9 inch pan.
  12. Put the potato slices in the pastry and then pour the syrup over top.
  13. Sprinkle the top with brown sugar and dot with butter.
  14. Bake for about 15 minutes.
  15. Reduce the heat to 350 degrees and bake it for 30 to 35 minutes more.
  16. This can be served at room temperature or chilled.

Maple Bread Pudding…..1977 Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1loaf fresh unslicedbread, cut into big cubes
  2. 1 1/2cupsmaple syrup
  3. 4 beatedeggs
  4. 4cupsmilk
  5. 1pinchsalt
  6. 1/8teaspoon fresh gratednutmeg
  7. 1/2cupraisins
  8. 1/2cuppecans

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cube a loaf of bread into pieces, also remove crusts if desired.
  2. Pour maple syrup over the bread cubes and toss to coat well.
  3. Mix eggs with milk and whisk until blended.
  4. Pour over cubes for 20 minutes to absorb.
  5. Add raisins and pecans.
  6. Bake in a buttered casserole dish at 325 degrees F.
  7. for 40 minutes.
  8. or until fork inserted in centre comes out clean.
  9. Topping for serving– Plain yogurt strained to remove some of the liquids, then add maple syrup and stir in well.
  10. Pour over the custard when serving.

Potato English Muffins Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1cupflour
  2. 4teaspoonsbaking powder
  3. 1/2teaspoonsalt
  4. 1tablespoonsugar
  5. 1/2teaspoonnutmeg
  6. 2tablespoonsbutter
  7. 1/2cup coldmashed potatoes
  8. 1/3cupmilk(plus or minus a tiny bit)

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large bowl mix the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and nutmeg.
  2. Cut in the butter with 2 knives or a pastry cutter until it resembles coarse meal.
  3. Mash the potato until it is smooth.
  4. Add it to the flour.
  5. Make a well in the center of the flour and add the milk.
  6. Mix it lightly with a fork, adding more milk if needed to make a soft dough.
  7. Put it on a lightly floured surface and knead it until smooth.
  8. Pat it (or roll it) to 1/2 inch thickness or less.
  9. Using a 3 inch cookie cutter (or whatever you use to make 3 inch rounds) cut them out.
  10. Dust a griddle with flour and heat until the flour browns just a bit.
  11. Cook the muffins on the griddle (at medium to medium-high heat) until they are cooked through and golden brown, turning them once.
  12. Serve them hot with your favorite topping.

Strawberry-Filled Chocolate Brownies Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. Brownies

  2. 1/2cupmargarine
  3. 3tablespoonscocoa
  4. 1cupsugar
  5. 3/4cupflour
  6. 1/4teaspoonsalt
  7. 2largeeggs
  8. 1/2teaspoonvanilla
  9. hersheychocolate syrup
  10. 1quartstrawberries
  11. powdered sugar

DIRECTIONS

  1. Combine margarine and cocoa in a small saucepan; cook over low heat, stirring frequently until margarine melts.
  2. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  3. Combine sugar, flour and salt in a mixing bowl.
  4. Add chocolate mixture and beat at medium speed with electric mixer until blended.
  5. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
  6. Spread into well-greased 9″ square baking pan.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  8. Cool 10 minutes on a wire rack.
  9. Invert on rack; cool completely.
  10. Cut into 8 (2 1/2-3″) hearts, using a heart shaped cutter.
  11. Spoon 2 Tbsp chocolate sauce onto each of 4 plates; place a heart brownie on each plate.
  12. Arrange strawberries over the hearts; top with remaining heart brownies.
  13. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
