Homemade Granola Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 2cupsold fashioned oats
  2. 1/2cupwheat germ
  3. 1/4cup coarsely choppedwalnuts
  4. 1/4cupsesame seeds
  5. 1/4cup shreddedsweetened coconut
  6. 1/4cup raw hulled greenpumpkin seeds
  7. 2tablespoonscanola oil
  8. 3tablespoonshoney
  9. 1teaspoonground cinnamon
  10. 1/4cupdried currants, to taste
  11. milk, for serving
  12. slicedfresh fruit(such as nectarines, peaches, bananas, pears, plums, mangoes or berries, for serving)(optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat a broiler.
  2. Place the broiler pan on the lowest rack.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, wheat germ, walnuts, sesame seeds, coconut and pumpkin seeds.
  4. Spread the mixture in an even layer on a large, rimmed baking sheet.
  5. Keeping the broiler door ajar, broil, shaking the pan every 30 seconds while keeping the mixture in an even layer, until crisp and golden but not charred, 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Watch the mixture carefully so it does not burn.
  7. Transfer to a large plate to cool, then place in a large bowl.
  8. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the oil, honey and cinnamon and heat until warm, about 2 minutes.
  9. Add half of the honey mixture to the granola and toss thoroughly to combine.
  10. Add just enough of the remaining honey mixture so that the granola clumps slightly but is not soupy.
  11. Stir in the currants.
  12. Serve the granola with milk and sliced fresh fruit.
  13. Serves 4.
  14. Note: The granola will keep in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
  15. Tip: Any of the following ingredients may be added to the granola in balanced quantities to taste: chopped dried dates, apples, pineapples, apricots, pears or mangoes; dark raisins or golden raisins; dried cranberries, cherries or blueberries; chopped almonds, hazelnuts, raw peanuts or sunflower seeds; and/or wheat flakes or oat bran.
  16. Also try different honeys, such as lavender or orange blossom, or substitute maple syrup for the honey.
  17. When trying new additions, be sure to maintain an appealing proportion of crunchy ingredients in the final mixture.

Daily shower cleaner Recipe

  1. 1/2cup concentrated all purposecleaner(eg Mr Clean, PineSol, Lysol)
  2. 1cuprubbing alcohol
  3. 6 1/2cupswater

DIRECTIONS

  1. Put the ingredients in a half gallon container.
  2. Shake.
  3. Put in a spray bottle.
  4. Use daily.

Blueberry Snack Cake Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 2cupsall-purpose flour
  2. 1 1/2cupssugar
  3. 1/2cup coldbutteror margarine
  4. 1teaspoonbaking powder
  5. 1cupmilk
  6. 2eggs, separated
  7. 2cupsblueberries, fresh or frozen(If using frozen, do not thaw before adding to the batter)

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar.
  2. Cut in butter until crumbly.
  3. Set aside 3/4 cup for topping.
  4. Add the baking powder, milk and egg yolks to remaining mixture; mix well.
  5. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form; fold into batter.
  6. Pour into a greased 13″ x 9″ x 2″ baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle with blueberries and reserved crumb mixture.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.

The Citrus Zinger - a Mocktail Recipe

DIRECTIONS

  1. Fill a highball glass with ice cubes.
  2. add fresh juices& top with soda.
  3. Garnish with lemon& orange zests.

Old-Fashioned Gingerbread Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. GINGERBREAD INGREDIENTS

  2. 8tablespoons softenedbutter
  3. 1/2cup packedlight brown sugar
  4. 1/2cupmolasses
  5. 1largeegg
  6. 2 1/2cupsall-purpose flour
  7. 1teaspoonbaking powder
  8. 1/2teaspoonsalt
  9. 1tablespoonground ginger
  10. 1teaspoonground cinnamon
  11. 1/2teaspoonground allspice
  12. OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS FOR ICING

  13. 2cupspowdered sugar
  14. 1/3cup softenedbutter
  15. 1teaspoonvanilla extract
  16. 2tablespoonsmilkor cream
  17. 1teaspoonground nutmeg

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Cream together butter and sugar, then beat in molasses and egg.
  3. Mix all dry ingredients together in a separate bowl.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the creamed butter/sugar mixture and mix until well blended.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for one hour.
  6. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to about a 3/4-inch thickness.
  7. Cut into 3-inch squares, or use your choice of cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
  8. Place on cookie sheets and bake 7-8 minutes.
  9. Transfer to a rack to cool completely.
  10. If you plan to ice your gingerbread, prepare the icing now.
  11. Mix all icing ingredients together in a small bowl until smooth.
