Potato Soup Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 5lbsrusset potatoes, chunked
  2. 1/2cupmilk
  3. 2tablespoonsdill weed
  4. 1tablespoonsalt
  5. 2teaspoonsblack pepper
  6. 1lbham, cubed

DIRECTIONS

  1. Peel and chunk potatoes; boil in just enough water to cover.
  2. add all ingredients except milk; when potates are tender, slightly mash about 1/2 of the potatoes.
  3. add milk simmer 20 min.
  4. serve with warm buttered bread.

Crockpot Belly Burner Chili Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1lbground beef
  2. 1/2onion, chopped
  3. 2clovesgarlic, minced
  4. 2canspinto beans or red beans, drained and rinsed
  5. 3 (14 ounce)cans dicedtomatoes and green chilies
  6. 1tablespoonunsweetened cocoa powder
  7. 2tablespoonschili powder
  8. 1teaspooncumin
  9. salt and pepper

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a skillet, brown ground beef, garlic and onion drain, and put ground beef in crock pot.
  2. Add beans, tomatoes, spices and cocoa powder.
  3. Cook in crockpot on low for 4-5 hours.
  4. Serve with cornbread if desired.

Oatmeal Raisin Persimmon Cookies Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1cupraisins
  2. 1cupshortening
  3. 1cupgranulated sugar
  4. 1cupbrown sugar
  5. 3tablespoonsmilk
  6. 2eggs
  7. 2teaspoonsvanilla extract
  8. 1 1/2cupsflour
  9. 1/2teaspoonsalt
  10. 1teaspoonbaking soda
  11. 1 1/2cups chopped/pureedpersimmons(or pureed apricots)
  12. 2cupsrolled oats

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Cover raisins with water in a small saucepan and boil them until they are soft; drain.
  3. In a large bowl, blend the shortening, sugars, milk, eggs, and vanilla.
  4. Beat well.
  5. Add the flour, salt, and soda.
  6. Beat again and stir in the raisins, persimmons (or apricots), and oats.
  7. Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes, taking cookies out while they are soft.
  8. Cool cookies before removing them from the baking pan.

Harvest Soup Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1largecarrot
  2. 1largepotato
  3. 1mediumonion
  4. 1stalkcelery
  5. 3 (15 ounce)canschicken broth
  6. 2 (16 ounce)packagesfrozen mixed vegetables

DIRECTIONS

  1. Peel and dice the carrot, potato, and onion; chop celery.
  2. Place the chopped vegetables into a pot and add the chicken broth.
  3. Heat and bring to a boil; cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. Add the frozen mixed vegetables and simmer for another 10 minutes.

Go Fish Snack Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1/2cuppeanut butter
  2. 16 hardbreadsticks
  3. 1cupgoldfish crackers

DIRECTIONS

  1. Put 1 tablespoon of peanut butter, 2 breadsticks and a few crackers on a large plate for each child.
  2. Let the kids dip their breadstick in the peanut butter.
  3. Then use the peanut buttered stick to”fish” for the fish-shaped crackers on their plates.
