Biscuits Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 2cupsflour
  2. 1/2teaspoonsalt
  3. 2-4tablespoonsshortening
  4. 2/3cupmilk(about)
  5. 2teaspoonsbaking powder

DIRECTIONS

  1. Sift flour, salt, powder.
  2. Add shortening and mix well.
  3. Stir in milk with a fork.
  4. Turn dough onto floured moulding board.
  5. Knead 10 to 20 times.
  6. Roll or pat out to 1/2 to 3/4 thickness.
  7. Cut.
  8. Place on greased baking sheet.
  9. Bake in oven at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

BBQ Salmon Over Mixed Greens Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 2tablespoonschili powder
  2. 1tablespoongarlic powder
  3. 1tablespoononion powder
  4. 3tablespoonswhite sugar
  5. 1tablespoonsalt
  6. 1/2teaspoonground allspice
  7. 1/2teaspoonground cumin
  8. 1/4teaspoonwhite pepper
  9. 1tablespoonpaprika
  10. 6 (6 ounce)salmon fillets
  11. 1tablespoonolive oil
  12. 1lbmixed salad greens
  13. 1 1/2cupstomato cocktail juice
  14. 1tablespoonapple cider vinegar
  15. 1/2cupchopped tomatoes
  16. 4tablespoonsolive oil

DIRECTIONS

  1. For the rub: In a small bowl, combine the chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, salt, allspice, cumin, white pepper and paprika.
  2. Mix well and sprinkle all but 1 1/2 tablespoons of the rub on all sides of the salmon.
  3. Cover salmon and refrigerate for 6 hours.
  4. Reserve the 1 1/2 tablespoons of rub for the vinaigrette.
  5. Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat and lightly oil grate.
  6. Lightly apply a thin film of olive oil to the salmon fillets.
  7. Grill over high heat for 8 to 10 minutes, or to desired doneness.
  8. For the mixed greens and vinaigrette: Clean and refresh the greens; dry thoroughly.
  9. In a small bowl, combine the tomato-vegetable juice cocktail, vinegar, tomatoes, olive oil and reserved rub.
  10. Mix well and toss with the greens.
  11. Divide greens among plates.
  12. Top each plate with a salmon fillet and spoon any remaining vinaigrette over the salmon.

Glazed Acorn Squash Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 4mediumacorn squash, cut in half
  2. 1/4cuporange juice, diluted with
  3. 1/4cupwater
  4. 1tablespoonhoney
  5. 1dashallspice
  6. 1cupcranberry sauce(homemade or canned)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Scrape seeds out of squash and, if necessary, cut a thin slice from bottom of squash so they stand upright.
  3. Pour orange juice into a 9×13 inch ovenproof glass dish and arrange squash, cavity-side down, in liquid.
  4. Bake until almost tender, about 30 minutes.
  5. Turn over, brush with honey and sprinkle with allspice.
  6. Fill each cavity with 2 tbsp of cranberry sauce.
  7. Bake an additional 15 minutes before serving.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Torte Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 2cupsvanilla wafer crumbs
  2. 1/3cupbutter or margarine, melted
  3. 1cuppeanuts, finely chopped,divided
  4. 8ouncescream cheese, softened
  5. 1cupconfectioners’ sugar(10x)
  6. 1/2cuppeanut butter
  7. 4cupsCool Whip, divided
  8. 3cups coldmilk
  9. 8ouncesinstant chocolate pudding mix
  10. 1chocolate bar(grated or divided we like Symphony)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Combine crumbs, butter& 2/3 c.
  2. peanuts.
  3. Press into an ungreased 9×13 pan.
  4. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  5. Cool completely.
  6. In bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar& peanut butter until smooth.
  7. Fold in 2 c.
  8. Cool Whip.
  9. Spread over crust.
  10. In bowl, beat milk and puddings on low for two minutes.
  11. Carefully spread over cream cheese layer.
  12. Cover and refrigerate 4-6 hours.
  13. Just before serving, carefully spread remaining Cool Whip over pudding layer.
  14. Sprinkle w/ grated chocolate (or place broken candy bar pieces on top), and remaining peanuts.

Grossmummy King’s SPICE CAKE Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1tablespoonyeast
  2. 1cupwarm water
  3. 1teaspoonsugar
  4. 2eggs, beaten
  5. 1/2cuplard
  6. 1cupraisins (optional)
  7. 2 1/2cupsflour
  8. 1cupsugar
  9. 2teaspoonscinnamon
  10. 1teaspoonsalt
  11. 1teaspoonbaking soda
  12. 1dashnutmeg
  13. 1dashground cloves
  14. 1dashallspice

DIRECTIONS

  1. Dissolve yeast in water.
  2. Add sugar.
  3. In separate bowl, mix eggs and lard; stir in raisins.
  4. Add to yeast.
  5. Mix flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, soda& salt.
  6. Pour into above mix.
  7. Let set in warm place for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
